Update (2/24/2012): Well, it’s finally “official,” Electric Daisy Carnival will come to the North East on May 19th & 20th. The location, as we had originally quoted our sources as saying, will be MetLife Stadium May 19thth & 20th. A lot of doubt was thrown into the mix after PachaNYC announced the Pacha U18 Festival at MetLife Stadium on the same dates.

According to Billboard:
“I’m really excited to be working with Pacha to bring our touring experience of Electric Daisy Carnival to New York,” Pasquale Rotella, founder and CEO of Insomniac Events, told Billboard exclusively. “The entire Insomniac staff is looking forward to this upcoming EDC weekend on the East Coast.”
What better way to kick off your summer than the Electric Daisy Carnival? We know we’ll be in attendance and can’t wait to see the rest of our readers there as well. Stay tuned to the our site, @TheBeatMill on Twitter, and on our Facebook page, for the latest in artist line ups and additional Electric Daisy Carnival news.
NOTE: The EDC NYC Website went blank at 6:00 PM, the regular EDC website is listing the dates as May 18th & 19th, while the official trialer lists the dates as 19th and 20th. Additionally, the EDC website no longer indicates MetLife as the location, we have a screenshot below before the change was made.
Update (2/21/2012 @ 8:15 PM):Many now have read the news of the Pacha U18 event slated to take place on May 19th and 20th at MetLife Stadium. Disappointment set in instantly for those eagerly scrapping for news during Tuesday lectures and workplace internet surfers. Fortunately for EDM fans, a new breath of life was forced into the situation when Pasquale Rotella, founder of Insomniac, let this tweet fly at 3:45 PM EST today.
“@PasqualeRotella: I love New York!! Hoot hoot! Hint hint!!”
“@PachaNYC: VERY BIG announcement coming this week. Stay tuned!”
When reading these three tweets combined, one can easily speculate possible situations. It’s our opinion that “EDC NYC” (or what really should be dubbed “EDC Tri-State” will occur, and is separate from the Pacha U18 event already announced for May 19th and 20th at MetLife Stadium. When looking at the calendar, one could easily see that the following weekend, Memorial Day Weekend, would serve as an excellent opportunity to fit a 2 or 3 day festival in, at the same already rumored MetLife Stadium. A second option is that Electric Daisy Carnival will take place at a different location, possibly Citi Field. The final possibility, and our original assumption, is the event is being held at MetLife Stadium on May 19th and 20th and will coincide with the “Pacha U18” event.
With Pacha U18 thrown into the mix, we don’t know for certain what dates “EDC NYC” will take place, or it’s definite location. What we do know is that we believe the event is still going to happen and it will blow everyone away, enough so that the roller coaster ride of rumors will all be worth it in the end. As always, stay updated via @TheBeatMill on Twitter and through our Facebook page.
Update (2/21/2012 @ 1:15 PM): It appears as if the rumblings of an Electric Daisy Carnival event happening at MetLife Stadium has been announced as Under-18 event called the “Pacha U18 Festival.” Rumors are still being circulated regarding a potential date/location for the Electronic Daisy Carnival event in the NYC area, they remain unconfirmed. Insomniac Events has yet to confirm or deny that a North East EDC event will take place. We consider the source of our information to be credible, and thus still believe there is a possibility that the event is planned. We will keep our readers updated as additional information becomes available.
Update (2/21/2012 @ 11:50 AM): Remember, until Insomniac announces this event, it is still a rumor.
Update (2/21/2012 @ 2:30 AM): We’ve just received a text from a source in the industry that this event is real and is happening. My source also told me that the event location was just settled on this past weekend.
Additionally, TheBeatMill was provided some leaked information regarding a massive show later this year involving one quite elusive and legendary EDM act (we think you can read between the lines), further information will follow, stay tuned. This secondary rumor is in regards to a show that is being discussed, nothing finalized, strictly rumor and not in relation to EDC NYC.
Update (2/20/2012 @11:30 PM): It seems as if there’s some confusion to MetLife Stadium being referred to as “New York City” as a few of our readers noted below in the comments, “New Meadowlands” is actually located in East Rutherford, N.J. Public transportation to and from the event will be available via NJ Transit. We made the reference to “NYC” as the stadium is home to the New York Giants and New York Jets, and is a quick commute from Manhattan. Besides, “EDCNYC” rolls off the tongue much better than “EDC East Rutherford N.J.”
It appears as if the electronic music gods have answered the prayers of many EDM faithful in the tri-state area. News broke tonight that on the weekend of May 18th, the incredible experience of Electric Daisy Carnival will spread across the field and parking lots of MetLife Stadium (a.k.a. New Meadowlands). The festival has recently become a staple to EDM fans seeking the unique experiences they’ve brought to Las Vegas Motor Speedway and to the city of Los Angeles.
The NYC event is expected to pull in more attendees than its cross-town rival, the Electric Zoo Festival, if it takes shape. One can only begin to guess the line-up and headliners that NYC would be treated to. Their past events touted cream of the crop headliners including Tiesto, Swedish House Mafia, and radio play favorite David Guetta. We’re sure the carnival would bring in the big guns again, and we’ve already started our wish lists, as we’re sure you have as well.
