Just a few weeks ago, Diplo released his Express Yourself EP, his first solo EP since his 2004 effort, Florida. Hot off the heels of his New Orleans bounce track, Express Yourself, Diplo’s new EP shows just how genre defying he really is. Within this EP, Diplo goes from bounce music, to moombahton, and infuses elements of Jamacain dance hall and dubstep to create a truly unique EP. In order to create these tracks, Diplo has collaborated with dubstep producer Datsik, Sabi, danchall legend Elephant Man, moombahton production duo GTA, Lazerdisk Party Sex, and the relatively unknown bounce MC Nicky Da B, Billy The Gent, and Long Jawns. The title track Express Yourself has gained radio play around the country, and has received over 1 Million views on YouTube.
With his ear for talent and finding new styles of music, Diplo is always on the cutting edge of what is next in music and a trendsetter. My favorite track off the whole EP is his collaboration with Datsik and Sabi, called Barely Standing. This tune has the elements of moombahton and dubstep, coupled with Sabi’s great vocals, this track is absolutely unique and a rager at that. Be sure to buy this EP, check out the video for Express Yourself, and watch the video of Diplo as he discovers what Bounce Music is all about.
