Event Preview: John Digweed & Danny Tenaglia at Governors Beach Club 8/11/12 newevents

Who’s ready for another epic show at Governor’s Beach Club? I certainly know I am, and this weekend you get a double dose of EDM goodness. This Saturday brings a party comprised of five DJs, two who have been in the game when most of us were still in diapers. The two veterans, John Digweed and Danny Tenaglia have both been spinnin’ since the late 80’s, so you can be sure they’re going to bring the heat.

John Digweed, native of England, began mixing at the young age of 15, and entered the big leagues in the early 90’s when Alexander Coe (a.k.a. Sasha) heard his demo. He’s best known for his progressive house that started in Europe and made its way to the states in the late 90’s. Digweed’s dreams came true in 2001 when he was voted #1 DJ by DJ Mag. His six-week North American tour in 2002, titled “Delta Heavy” was enjoyed by an astounding 85,000 fans, a pretty impressive attendance that early on in the game. For an amazing 11 years, Digweed hosted a two-hour, weekly radio show called “Transitions” on Kiss 100 in the UK. Although Digweed no longer airs on the show, it continues to thrive today.

New York native DJ/producer, and sure to be crowd favorite Danny Tenaglia will also be gracing you with his presence on Saturday. As an early adopter, Tenaglia made the tough decision to leave New York to pursue his DJ-ing career in Maimi. He quickly went up the ranks and was resident DJ at Cheers Nightclub for a solid five years before returning to The Big Apple. Since then he’s produced 11 albums, countless singles, and more remixes than one could even imagine. Sadly, in April of 2011,Tenaglia publicly announced his resignation from his busy worldwide touring schedule, although he continues to play big shows around the world. So, don’t say I didn’t warn you, this will not be a set you want to miss.

Also joining the beach party is the one and only Pleasurekraft. Although only Kaveh will make an appearance, this tech house duo hails from an unlikely combination of Stockholm, Sweden, and Washington D.C., and is popularly known for their alluring underground techno beats. Their name says it all; they make their music to give you pleasure. Now who wouldn’t want to see a show like that? I thought so.

Last but definitely not least is another New York twosome: Sleepy and Boo. But trust me, their beats will make you the exact opposite of sleepy. These guys are known for their hard hitting, bass heavy, synthesizer sounds, which will take you on a roller coaster of musical greatness. For those who can remember back to 2009, Sleepy and Boo are the guys behind Basic NYC, which was named “best dance party” by New York Magazine. In 2010 their skills helped them to become resident DJs at Cielo, which remains on the top of the list of best clubs in NYC.

Tickets are still available on Made Event’s website, but grab ‘em quick before time runs out! Get ready for a day filled of all sorts of electronic music, from the old to the new. This 8 hour day and night beach party will be sure to be one of the best of the summer.
