With Electric Zoo right around the corner, we over at TheBeatMill are excited to see a lot of young producers in the lineup this year. So much has changed since last years Zoo music wise; new artists have emerged and the popularity of electronic sub genres have grown . Which leads us to the young progressive house producer Justin Blau (3LAU). Last year Justin was balancing his studies at Washington University while also focusing on his career as a DJ/Producer, but this year Justin’s main focus is taking his talent to the next level. After seeing what 3LAU had to offer at this years Camp Bisco Music Festival, we are anticipating his set on the Main Stage the Sunday of Electric Zoo. We got a chance to chat with Justin last week and ask him a few questions. Being a young producer himself, we wanted to get his take on what he thinks of the no age restriction policy at Electric Zoo (in case you were unaware there is no age restrictions and five and under get in FREE). Justin said, “I didn’t even know that about Electric Zoo! Not sure how safe that is, but hey, I hear Made Events is on top of their stuff. I’m sure it will affect the event in a positive way if anything, more diversity of people which is always a good thing.” We also wanted to know how 3LAU was going to set himself apart from the other talents performing on the Main Stage on Sunday. Justin said he had some really special stuff planned for his fans; he will be debuting his first original single that he has made with Paris & Simo. He also brought up a good point that we agree with, “people go to festivals to hear new stuff, so that’s my plan, a set of mostly unheard, unreleased or underground material.”
Aside from his first ever performance at Electric Zoo, 3LAU has also announced a fall tour that is going to be sweeping the United States in the coming months. This tour will be called the “3LAU Your Mind” Tour…not bad for a kid who just a year ago was starting his junior year of college.
All in all, we encourage you to get over to Blau’s set on Sunday on the Main Stage at Electric Zoo, we promise you will not be disappointed and if he is coming to your town on tour grab a group of friends and check out this young talent.
